How to Get a Fair Complexion

The causes for a dark skin or complexion could be many. Some of the most common ones are heredity - people who have a dark skin often have children who are dark-skinned too, hyperpigmentation, skin disorders and sun rays.

The sun can be our biggest enemy. If you do not wear sunscreen and protective clothing, your face will be at risk for burns, skin damage and hyperpigmentation that make skin to look blemished and patchy.
Use a good quality sunscreen when going out in the sun to protect the skin from tanning as well as the sun's UV rays.

Skin whitening is a procedure in which the darker skin is made to look lighter.
Though there are several techniques in whitening the skin, it is essentially done through the exfoliation - getting rid of dead skin at the outermost layer of the skin and unveiling a new layer.

How to Take Care of Your Hair in the Winter

How to Take Care of Your Hair in the Winter

Maintain a healthy scalp

Caring for your scalp is as important as caring for your skin.

Since the appearance of your hair is directly related to the health of your scalp, it's very important to use gentle products that will not remove natural oils that are needed for healthy and shiny hair.

It's common during the dry winter season to experience itchiness and irritation

Try to wash your hair less often and choose a shampoo for sensitive scalps, which is usually creamier.
Avoid formulas for dandruff-prone scalps, which is caused by an oily—not dry—scalp.

Banish hat head
Even after being under a wool hat, you can have soft and silky hair. Fortify strands with a leave-in conditioner or day cream to prevent frizz. For hair that's already flattened, poof it up by misting a brush with a light-hold hairspray and combing it through your hair.

When you're home, slather on a deep conditioner at least once a week. Seal in moisture for the rest of the day with a leave-in conditioner.

Preserve your hair color
Like any extra stress you put on your hair, coloring makes the hair weaker and can cause breakage, which is why it's so important to deep-condition to lock in moisture.
If you're heat-styling your hair frequently, be sure to protect it with a gel or salve, which will ensure that the heat burns away the product and not your hair color.
Also, be mindful of your shampoo and conditioner: Tailor them to your hair type and color to prevent fading and brassiness.

Laser Treatment for Hairloss

A relatively new addition to the tools that some trichologists use to combat hair loss is laser treatment. We have compiled some facts below about this effective method:

Low Level Laser Light Therapy as a Medical Treatment

Low-level laser light therapy (LLLLT) is a form of physical medicine. Physical medicine uses stimulation therapy to activate the body's natural defense mechanisms, i.e. through biostimulation.

What is Laser ''Radiation''?

The name LASER is short for L ight A mplification by S timulated E mission of R adiation. Laser light and devices are sometimes referred to as laser emitting, laser producing, laser radiation, etc. This terminology is confusing. There is NO radiation in the sense we normally refer to as radiation. Lasers produce light high in energy, nothing else (even sunlight is a type of radiation). No radioactivity or dangerous energy is produced. Radiation with laser does imply that your head will get fried The laser light is used as a 'cold light'.

Is Laser Hair Care Safe?

The type of lasers used by trichologists are non-surgical therapeutic lasers. Some trichologists use the most powerful laser that is safe for cosmetic purposes [and which complies with international laser safety standards]. Laser Hair Care is approved for cosmetic use in the EEC and US as a Certified Class 3A laser by the Food and Drug Administration, which has the most rigid standards in the world and fully complies with Radiation Control for Health and Safety act. The energy produced by the photons does not have the thermal component that can cause injuries to users or operators. Laser light energy does not alter molecular structures, it stimulates the body's mechanism to repair and heal itself.

Benefits of Laser Therapy

  • Increases scalp blood flow and follicle microcirculation by 20 to30 percent.
  • Increases nutrient supply to enhance hair growth.
  • Stimulates and accelerates hair growth.
  • Reduces excess levels of skin 5-alpha reductase and dihydrotestosterone (DHT), the hormones that contribute to genetic thinning.
  • Relieves scalp conditions such as psoriasis, seborrhoeic dermatitis, itchy/scaling scalp due to the laser's anti-inflammatory effects.
  • Normalises sebum production in the scalp.
  • Increases sebum production in cases of underactivity/scalp dryness.
  • Reduces excessive sebum production in cases of overactivity/scalp greasiness, thus reducing pore clogging and preventing enlarged sebaceous gland formation.
  • Reduces tight, tender scalp.
  • An effective adjunct therapy for pre and post hair transplantation procedures.
